Glad to hear things are going well for you. Love your music and just got an album by one of your pals Bryce Lewis, it's amazing. None of my business but did you go the born again route to help with your sobriety or do you just like that quote? You can tell me to get lost if you want. Happy New Year

Hey Regan - Bryce's record is one of my all-time favourites, couldn't be more happy for that guy and all he's created and contributed to my growth as an artist over the decade we toured together. Now, our main focus is raising our son's together.

A short answer to your question simply wouldn't give it justice. Of all the writing projects I hope to complete, one is a memoir of faith. I don't know if I would have always called it that but as early as I remember I've had supernatural experiences and only recently come to a place where I see the importance of sharing them without considering the judgement of others. The veil has always been thin for me. As far as born again goes, I called out in a severe moment of desperation in 2015 and given the immediate and physical encounter, I'm doing my best to keep my end of the deal.

Considering sobriety, I can't get too righteous as there are an infinite amount of other areas the darkness attempts to take its hold and it is a constant battle. I heard once that if you are favoured by the Lord, you are favoured by the Devil. So with that in mind, I continue to work at my relationship with the Divine. So again, back to your question - what came first, the chicken or the egg. As my faith grows, I don't as much as feel the urge to drink and with that I have a stronger connection to something greater than any of us could ever understand.

I sure appreciate the question. I couldn't image telling you to get lost with such a genuine inquiry. Happy New Year to you as well - let's make this coming one rooted in gratitude.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I have had issues with alcohol and anxiety / depression myself so I'm always curious what route others use to take control of their lives. At 60 I finally feel like myself, had to cut alcohol completely out and luckily have an excellent doctor who helps with the meds for the anxiety. Also my wife has been the best support anyone could ever have. All the best to you and your family in the new year, keep making music and speaking truth to power as they say. Awesome that someone can create amazing "country" music and not be a RW a**hole.

Some of the most influential people in my life have found a renewed sense of self in their 60s and 70s. Congrats on cutting out the booze, I don't know a single person that has and say they regret it. And cheers to a solid marriage, nothing like a good woman - mine changed me, completely through grace and patience.

I also appreciate the quotations around "country" - I think that's how I'm going to describe the music I play from now on, quotations included. I'll say this though on your very last thought...lots of good folks out there that align with RW values. I'd describe myself as a transcendent of the political spectrum, might be a controversial thought but I feel we can make the most change in the world with a compassionate and capitalistic mindset ;)

Hey Blake, Its great to see you and Mel put your words to truth. Nothing brings peace like the triumph of virtues because having courage doesn't matter without purpose.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

I heard that if you can see it in your mind and speak it from the heart, you can bring it into the world. I'm gonna work at keeping my cockiness in check this year, I naturally enjoy the scrap. Getting off the Twitter helped. Ha.

Be well, Greg. Your kind words are wind in the sails.

I like to think your music transcends the god, guns and Trump version of country music that is out there. As for compassion and capitalism, I'll agree on the first part, lol. All the best to you and your family, hopefully I'll get a chance to catch a show.
