Check-in on the Base #25: Western Seer Records Presents

Upcoming tour with Belle Plaine & Lachlan Neville, The Western Seer Hired Hands, The Western Producer, and little jack farms

Howdy Readers,

Hands down, my most favourite part of what I do is conceptualize. Getting to develop ideas that centralize around a theme or a hook and take it as far as I can. I probably shouldn’t get too sure of myself, as I’m pretty sure that Melanie was the one to initially bring up the idea of a Western Seer Records Showcase but we were on the exact same page. We’ve shared bandmates since the moment I fell for her and the crew we have right now is smoking. As announced this week, the works of us are headed out on the road this November for a run out west to light some rooms on fire.

I need to extend a message of gratitude to Karen Briere and The Western Producer for for publishing a piece on my new album and the coming election in Saskatchewan. For any that do not know, The Western Producer is a long standing agriculture/rural paper making it in farmers mailboxes for the last 100 years. My dad would read every word, sitting at the kitchen table into the evenings. I can't truly express how much it means. Not only that, I felt my nuance and ideas were represented incredibly…hard to say that about publications these days. So again, thank you so much, Karen.

So, I had a dilemma. Was I to release the new album and run across the country talking about farming or release the new album and go farm? As you know, I chose the latter and now that harvest is behind us, I’m going to have a winter getting the message into the halls across the prairies.

Lastly, spent a couple days this week with little jack in his shop and out at his farm. If you haven’t heard of his newly launch project, little jack farms, I highly advise you to follow the Instagram page and the YouTube. I need to make a correction - in the audio portion I said he had 18 sessions in his back pocket with the who’s who in our scene…turns out it’s 27.

Epic, much love to y’all. If you have folks in the touring areas please send them in my direction. Better yet, make the pilgrimage yourself.

Alright - chat soon,

BB
