Check-in on the Base #29: Belle Plaine at Darke Hall

Dry Guy Near-Beer, Belle Plaine in studio, and a Darke Hall performance

Howdy Readers,

I’ve officially reached my life long goal of getting to play just the acoustic guitar in a band thanks to my exponentially better half, Belle Plaine.

This Friday night (April 25) she is celebrating 15 years in the business with an evening at Darke Hall in Regina, SK. Full band, full night and with the stars lining up, a full house. Coming hot out of studio recording her fourth full-length album, she’s peppered the setlist with songs spanning her entire catalog including a bunch of brand new entries.

If you are in the Regina area or willing to make the drive (flight) in, it’s going to be one for the books. Tickets are at DarkeHall.ca or by clicking the button bellow:

Today’s “Check-in” also begins with some serious gratitude towards the Yahoo Buckaroos crew in Calgary and Blake Reid and family for all the work they put in hosting and promoting Belle, Lachlan and I a few weeks ago with our Western Seer Songwriters' Round shows in Alberta. Great venues and turn-outs - couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling weekend.

And a hard shout out to Malty National Brewing Company for their non-alcoholic Dry Guy beer which I casually sip on throughout.

I could have doubled the length of today’s update if I were to get into the details of what’s coming up for the record label - we’re diligently working away at some team building and extending opportunities in both Melanie and Lachlan’s directions. Funny how I could go 20 years steering the ship as a solely independent venture and alas, that time has passed. As they say, if you wanna move quick, do it yourself, if you wanna move big, build a team.

The Straight & The Narrow is a reader-supported publication. To assist in all things Blake Berglund and Western Seer Records, paid subscriptions are what’s making it happen.

Thanks Crew, hope y’all had a great Easter and for those prepping equipment to get in the field - here’s to a safe and prosperous seeding season.

See you at Darke Hall on Friday night.

Much Love,

BB
